HOULE, Edith Houle

Peacefully, surrounded by her family at Bluewater Health, Edith Houle passed away Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, at the age of 103. Predeceased by her husband Robert (1991) and daughter Lorraine (1949), parents Donat Dufour (1983) and Virginie (1997), sister Aline and brothers Adrien and Roger. She was the loving mother of Guy, Marc (Irene), Mike (Jennifer) and Patsy. Adored mémère of Tanya (Andy), Chantale, Natalie (Jason), Carly (Ben), Jayme (Tricia), Emily, Lesli (Joe), Julie (Marcus), Brooke (Brady), and 14 great grandchildren; Tyler (Zak), Christian, Brooklyn, Kylie, Mikayla, Brady, Chloe, Jacob, Michael, Blakely, Dane, Scottie, Kameron and Mack. Mom is survived by her sister Lita Francoeur. Mom had a special relationship with many of her nieces and nephews who would call and visit her regularly. She cherished these visits.

She was also blessed to have some of her friends from the younger generation take the time to visit her, take her shopping, get her nails done or have a glass of wine with. We always appreciated that everyone took the time to make her feel so special and loved. She made some new friends later in life in her apartment building then at Vision Rest Home and she enjoyed their companionship. Mom was born in Chandler, Quebec then later moved to Smooth Rock Falls in northern Ontario where she met dad. They moved to Sarnia, Bluewater shortly after they married. Mom was very active and in her younger days enjoyed skiing and skating. She was active in a ladies bowling league for many years. Mom was very involved in the St. Thomas d’Aquin parish where she played the organ for 60 years. She was also on the committee for the Club Jolliet and was honoured with an award for her contribution to the club.

She was an avid walker and many of you will probably remember seeing her walking in the mornings 12 months a year dressed in all white. Mom loved her kids and grandkids fiercely and loved to see them each and every one as much as she could. She will be greatly missed by us all. We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Vision Rest Home for the excellent care she had there and also to the Palliative Care staff at Bluewater Health, Sarnia.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Big Fish Steak & Lounge, 1717 London Line, Sarnia.
