VEENKAMP, Pauline Veenkamp

December 9, 1934 - July 5, 2026
VEENKAMP, Pauline Veenkamp

She formerly of Sarnia and recently of Strathroy, Ontario was called to be with her Lord and Saviour on July 5, 2026. She was born to the late Albertus (2000) and Maria (nee Koorneef, 2003 ) van de Wetering on December 9, 1934 in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada and landed in Quebec City on May 7, 1948. On September 7, 1956 Pauline married Theodorus (Theo) Veenkamp and they settled into their home on Blackwell Sideroad in Sarnia. Pauline will be remembered with deep love by her children: John & Wendie (King), MaryAnne & Greg Ayrheart, Albert & Wilma (Lenos), Ted & Wendy (Barrak), Jim & Renee (Roorda), Jeanette & Calvin Dykstra. She was a cherished grandmother to Jamie, Jeff, Cassandra & Andrew, Joe & Sam, Nathan & Tori, Nicole & Ben, Matthew & Amelia, Isaac, Calvin & Patricia, Helena, and Benjamin, and a proud great-grandmother to Natalie, Jack, Grant and Elianna.

Pauline Veenkamp is fondly remembered by her siblings, Marie & Len Broersma, Albert & Anne (Linker), Walt, Nell & Gerald Vanderheide and sisters-in-law Ann Veenkamp and Pauline Wetering. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Theo (1994), her sibling Jerry and in-laws Jackie, Ann, Henny & Jake, Bob & Ann, Shorty, and Teena & Hank. Dedicated to her family, Pauline focused on raising her children and supporting her household. She was a compassionate soul, always offering a supportive hand and friendship to those who were lonely. Her faith was central to her life, seen through her active involvement in the church’s Calvinettes and Ladies Auxiliary programs. Pauline was also an exceptionally gifted crafter and knitter.

Her grandchildren deeply treasured the custom graduation photo binders she made for them, and her children’s Christmas trees remain beautifully filled with the handmade holiday decorations she gifted them each year. Her knitting left a lasting mark on the community: the local bagpiper group proudly marched in her hand-knitted knee socks, her children keep their feet warm with her slippers, her grandchildren grew up wrapped in her cozy sweaters, children across the world benefited from hand-knit and crocheted blankets, and thousands of her finger puppets brought smiles and comfort to children in local hospitals.

The funeral will be held at Redeemer Christian Reformed Church at 2:00 pm on July 7, 2026 followed by a reception/visitation. If desired, donations to Free a Family -World Renew, Sarnia Christian School, Strathroy Community Christian School or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
