YOUNG, Gregory George Young
January 26, 1951 - July 26, 2026
In Loving Memory of our dad, Gregory George Young.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Gregory George Young, who passed away surrounded by family at the age of 75 after a short and devastating battle with lung cance
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Greg spent much of his childhood moving throughout Ontario as the son of an Air Force family. Those early experiences helped shape the independent and resilient person he would become.
Greg built a successful career as an accountant, approaching his work with intelligence and determination. Outside of work, he had a lifelong passion for music and was an accomplished trumpet player. He also enjoyed his boys nights with the βsweat hogsβ playing Euchre at our dining room table. His love of travel brought him to Costa Rica and Nicaragua where he lived for over 10 years.
Greg lived life on his own terms and had a personality that left a lasting impression on those who knew him. While he could be determined and spirited, there was no greater joy in his life than being βPapa.β His greatest pride and happiness were his beloved granddaughters, Taylor and Louisa. Time spent with them was precious to him, and they brought out his gentlest, most playful, and joyful side.
Pre-deceased by his parents, Lenora and Robert Young, and sister Shelley, Greg is lovingly remembered by his children, Sheona (Paul) and David (Hannah); his cherished granddaughters, Taylor and Louisa; his brothers Jay (Susan) and Chris (Jamie); his extended family and many friends. Greg was also predeceased by his eldest brother, Bob (Ginette), just six days before his own passing. We take comfort in imagining the two of them reunited once again.
Though his time with us ended far too soon, the memories he created, the music he played, the stories he shared, and the love he had for his family will remain with us always.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Oak Ridges Hospice who provided Greg with comfort, dignity, and kindness during his final days.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
