It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Joan Sutcliffe (nee Vagg) who passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday August 22, 2026.
Treasured mother of Allison (Robert) and cherished sister of the late Shirley (Kenny), Carol (Merrill), Judy (the late Paul), and Elaine (Bob).
She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Thelma Vagg, her husband and Allison’s father Reid Cochrane, as well as her husband Ron, and her later partner Reid.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Joan” to her many nieces and nephews. Joan was also a cherished Grandma to her extended family. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her and remembered for her love, warmth, and kindness.
Joan had a wonderful gift for making friends wherever she went. She loved people and had a way of making everyone she met feel special. Her friendly nature and generous spirit made her a loved person to so many.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of the Critical Care Unit, of Bowmanville Hospital, for their care and compassion.
As per Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a private ceremony.
