Anna Margaret Catherine Sully

Passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, at the age of 88. Born in Cole Harbour, in Guysborough County Nova Scotia, May 12, 1938, to Elizabeth and William Munroe, she was a caring and devoted person who cherished family, valued friendships and was an active member of her community.

She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her brother John Munroe, sister Ethel George, her children Bill Sully (Lynda), Bruce Sully (Barb), Carolyn Tsai (John) and James Sully (Kim), her grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew, Samantha, Alexander and Shannon, step grandchildren Brandon and Liza (Mark), her many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her husband James(Jim), her sister Mabel Bright and her parents.

Anna Margaret Catherine Sully moved to Oshawa, Ontario when she was 18 where she lived until she and her husband Jim moved to Port Hope. Anna started her working career at Warner’s Aluminum where she met her husband Jim. She raised her family and then returned to work for several years as an ECE Assistant at Christ Church Nursery School. Anna was an active member of Centennial United Church in Oshawa, where she volunteered at church events and was well known for baking her delicious pies for church suppers. Following her retirement, Anna enjoyed a life filled with travel, family, friends, and the places she loved most. She spent her winters in Englewood, Florida, and her summers between her cottage on Crystal Lake and her home in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Anna had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. She loved wandering the beaches of Florida and Nova Scotia with family and friends, searching for shells and sand dollars. She could spend hours picking berries and turning them into jams and preserves to share with others. Gardening was another passion, and she took great pride in the vegetables she grew in her garden in Port Hope and the beautiful rhododendrons at her home in Nova Scotia. At her cottage on Crystal Lake, Anna loved swimming, boating, and gathering around the campfire with family and friends. She was also an avid golfer and could often be found on a golf course, no matter where she happened to be living. Wherever Anna was, she was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She was a gracious host and a talented baker, always making sure there was more than enough food and dessert for everyone who walked through her door. Her generosity, warmth, and thoughtfulness made people feel welcome and cared for. Anna was a source of strength, love, and devotion to her family. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for the memories she created, and the many ways she brought people together.

Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, on Tuesday September 15, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, , on September 15, 2026, at 1:30 pm.

The interment of Anna’s cremated remains will take place at a later date in Nova Scotia
