Lorne Neville

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our much beloved father, Lawrence (Lorne) Douglas Neville, on September 6, 2026, at the age of 85. Lorne was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.

While his loss leaves an emptiness in us all, we find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with those he loved and missed so dearly. Lorne was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa (nee Lair); his parents, Harry and Lila (Clouthier) Neville; his sister, Harriett; and his brother, Grant (Tanny).

He was a devoted father to his six children: Paula (the late Jim Sloan), Lawrence (Rick McInnes), Carrie (Dan) Shields, Tracie (Andrew) Seegmiller, Christopher (Nancy) and Patrick (Shannon).

He was also an incredibly proud grandfather to his 11 grandchildren: Jacob and Jordan Shields; Jeremy, Ryan, Avery and Molly Seegmiller; Joel, Nora and Sadie Neville; and Kimara and Brady Neville.

Lorne shared a lifetime of memories with his siblings: Harold (the late Faye), the late Harriett (the late Rolly) Gagnon, the late Rev. Grant Neville, Lianne (Bruce) Clark, Maureen (Billy) Belland, Kathy (David) and Paul. Their bond went far beyond simply being siblings. And, of course, Lorne will be missed by his faithful sidekick, Willy, who spent the past seven years by his side, keeping watch and making sure Dad never ate a meal or snack alone.

His family was his greatest source of pride and joy, and there was never any doubt how deeply he loved each of us. We could always count on him, and we were all blessed to have his guidance, support, and unconditional love throughout our lives.

Funeral service was not simply a career; it was a part of who he was. A fourth-generation funeral home owner and director, he spent more than 65 years caring for families throughout our community, continuing a family tradition that meant a great deal to him. He had a natural way of being with people and treated everyone with the same kindness, compassion and respect that he would have wanted for his own family.

Lorne was a deeply religious man and his faith was at the heart of his life. His love for Christ our Lord was something he carried with him every day. It was a faith first taught to him by his parents and one he quietly passed on to his own children and grandchildren. He taught us not only through his words, but through the way he lived his life. His faith was one of the greatest gifts his parents gave him and one of the greatest gifts he gave to us.

Lorne loved a good round of golf and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pembroke Lumber Kings. We learned early that when the Yankees, Notre Dame or the Masters were on, he was off limits.

He loved the simple things in life. Pepsi, french fries and all candy… daily.

Above all, Lorne was a good man and a true gentleman. He was warm, kind, compassionate, generous and always willing to help anyone. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a quick wit and he could often make you laugh when you least expected it.

He spent his life caring for others, loving his family and living his faith. But to us, most of all, he was Dad, the best father we could have ever asked for.

He will always be loved, remembered and missed more than words can express.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella Street, Pembroke, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Columba’s Cemetery, Pembroke.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sadat Muzammil, the PSW's, and our night angels who cared for Lorne with such kindness, patience and compassion. To those who went above and beyond and became a special part of his life, please know how deeply grateful we are. Your care, dedication and friendship touched his life and ours in ways we will carry with us always.
