Elsie Murray

The family of Cleo Elsie Murray (Maki) is saddened to announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her family in Oshawa, Ontario, on December 7, 2024, in her 88th year. She is now reunited with her loving husbands, the late Neil Murray and the late Edwin Maki.
Elsie was adored and loved by her three children, Scott Maki (Laura) of Hamilton, Ont., Allison Corbett (Dave) of Bowmanville, Ont., and Heather Kazmierczak (Chris) of Farmington Hills, Michigan. She was also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Erich (Katelin) and Adam (Olivia) Bogensberger, Stephanie and Jennifer Maki, Alex and Andrew Kazmierczak, and her great-grandchildren, Jannah, Davey, Emmett, Emmi, and Raya.
Daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jane “Mamie” Frech, Elsie was predeceased by her dear sister, Marion Rosso (late Joe). She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.
Elsie’s greatest accomplishment was raising her three children, for many years as a widowed working mother following the unexpected passing of her husband Ed in 1981. Years later, she met and married Neil, a dashing Scotsman, with whom she enjoyed many wonderful years. She took great delight in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, by whom she will be dearly missed.
Elsie had a long and rewarding career with Great Lakes Power in Sault Ste. Marie. A warm and caring person, she had many cherished friends and deeply appreciated their love and support, especially during her battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Interment will take place in the St. Luke’s Columbarium in Sault Ste. Marie, with a celebration of Elsie’s life to occur in the spring.
Special thanks to the caring professionals at Bowmanville Creek Retirement Residence and the Purple Woods Unit at Age Care Samac Long Term Care Home in Oshawa. Their kindness and dedication have been a blessing to Elsie’s family.
