Born July 22, 1935, passed away peacefully in Port Perry on September 8, 2026. Predeceased by his wife “Honey” Helen Stewart Gordon, father Robert Rae, mother Jessie Rae, and sister Nancy Bates (Robert). Father to Scott (Pauline) and Andrew (Catherine). Papa to Brittany (Tyler), Rachel (Kevin), Cameron (Megan) and Maxine. Great Papa to Charlie and Ryan. He will be missed by his fur babies Tiree, Maverick, Piper, Cooper, Angus and Zara. At the age of 21 travelled alone from Scotland to his forever home Canada. John Rae was a director to many publishing companies with a huge sense of humour and photographic memory. A commissionaire at Oshawa City Hall after retirement. He was an emcee to many weddings, Burn’s nights and book launches. He loved books, TV, music, birds and the family cottage he helped build on Balsam Lake. Many thanks to Port Perry Place and wonderful staff for his last four years.
