Terence “Terry” John Coldwell died peacefully on September 14, 2026, at Community Living Sarnia-Lambton, surrounded by the love and care of his Champlain family. He was 75.

Born in Nova Scotia on September 19, 1950, to Bertha and Jack Coldwell, Terry entered life early and met its challenges with courage and determination. He spent the first half of his life in Nova Scotia among a large extended family and the traditions he treasured.

Terry later moved with his mother to Sarnia to be nearer to his sister, Sheila Bonn, her husband Ed and their family. He eventually made his home at Champlain House, where he formed lasting connections and shared many adventures and experiences.

Although a man of few words, Terry made his wishes clear. He faced obstacles with a strong spirit, won a special place in the hearts of those who knew him and retained a lifelong love of Nova Scotia. Music from his home province, especially “Farewell to Nova Scotia,” held deep meaning for him.

At Community Living Sarnia-Lambton, Terry became an important part of the Champlain House family. He will be remembered by that community, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

His family offers heartfelt thanks to Community Living Sarnia-Lambton for the years of treasured memories and compassionate care given to Terry.

Cremation has taken place, and Terry will be laid to rest in his family cemetery in Nova Scotia. Family and friends are invited to an open-house tribute at the Smith Funeral Home Family Centre, 1576 London Line in Sarnia, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. An open microphone for tributes will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Community Living Sarnia-Lambton; cheques are accepted at the funeral home.
