It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Jerry K. Cooper, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the age of 88. Jerry leaves behind his 3 children, Gary (Donna), Terry-Ann (Kerry) and Vicki; his grandchildren, Dalton, Chance and Koral; great grandchildren Marleigh, Zander and Luna, his siblings, Betty Grant, Jack Cooper (Sally), Karen Last, Joyce Boschman, Larry Cooper, Jim Cooper (Patty), and sister-in-law Nancy Cooper (late Tom Cooper) as well as his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by Betty his wife of 32 years (1992), his parents Stan and Mildred Cooper as well as several siblings Donald Cooper, Stan Cooper, Bob Cooper, Doug Cooper, Tom Cooper, Bill Cooper, Allen Cooper, Delores Smith and Rosemary Courtis. Jerry was born on March 7, 1938, and was 1 of 16 children. He lived in Point Edward and Sarnia most of his life. He began working in his father’s business, SG Cooper Painting at the young age of 14 and became quite a talented painter and wallpaper hanger. Eventually he went out on his own, forming Jerry Cooper Paining which ran successfully until his retirement in 2001. He was an incredibly gifted handy man who enjoyed working with his hands and could fix, build and repair almost anything. His most favourite past time was to be out tinkering in his garage and having a beer with his buddies. Jerry was known for his sense of humour, his storytelling, and his ability to make people laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends. Going to dances on weekends because he loved to dance, especially the polka. He loved watching sports, playing solitaire on his computer and helping others whenever he could. Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest peacefully now, Jerry. You will always be loved. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society or the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
