Bernice “Fern” Marie Gibbs

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice “Fern” Marie Gibbs, in her 85th year, on October 8, 2026. Fern was a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Gibbs, Fern was the dear daughter of the late Cornelius and the late Bernice Zeitz and was one of ten children lovingly raised in their family. She was a loving mother to Donna (Thomas White) and the late Brian, a proud grandmother of four, and a treasured great-grandmother of four. She was especially adored by her grandchildren Samuel (Jacqueline) and Abby White, who will carry her love and memory with them always. Fern also shared a special bond with her beloved furbaby, Mattie, a Maltese terrier and cherished companion. Born and raised in Monetville, Ontario, Fern embraced her northern roots throughout her life. She was a member of Camlachie United Church and valued the fellowship and friendships she found there. Fern found happiness in the simple pleasures of life: a round of golf, a lively game of cards, time spent with friends, and tending her garden. Her amazing lemon loaves were made with care and generously shared, becoming a sweet reminder of the hospitality and love she brought to every gathering. Above all, Fern will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends and for the love she gave so freely. Her steady presence, warm spirit and thoughtful ways will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A special thank you to the Staff at Marshall Gowland Manor as well as Dr. MacSweeney for the care, compassion and professionalism shown to Fern. Forever in our hearts. Sarnia, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Fern will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at SFH-McKenzie Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina St. N. Sarnia, with Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to ALS Canada (cheques only at the funeral home please).
