With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bogusława Wanda Frejek, on October 23, 2026, at the age of 72. After a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer, she spent her final moments surrounded by family.
Born in Sucha Beskidzka, Poland, Bogusława — affectionately known to friends and family as Bogusia or Boga — grew up in Nowa Huta, Kraków, where she spent her childhood and formative years. In 1975, she married her sweetheart, Antoni Frejek. She pursued her technical education in Kraków, graduating in 1976 as a Mechanical Technician. She went on to work in technical drafting at a glassworks in Kraków.
In 1981, Bogusława and Antoni left Poland and spent a year in Graz, Austria, before immigrating to Canada in 1982. They settled in Toronto, where they welcomed their son and daughter and raised their young family. After fifteen years, they moved to Oshawa.
Much of Bogusława’s life was devoted to raising her children and caring for her family. She was strong-willed, outspoken, and had a refreshingly honest way of expressing herself. She had a wonderful sense of humour, a sharp wit, and a saying for every occasion that often brought laughter to those around her. Beneath her stubbornness and sometimes tough exterior was a caring heart, a love for animals, and a deep love for those closest to her.
Bogusława found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, walking her beloved Yorkies, and travelling. She enjoyed shopping and unwinding with a good movie. She especially enjoyed a good cup of coffee paired with a delicious pastry.
Bogusława was the cherished daughter of the late Bolesław Guzewicz and Julia Guzewicz (née Zawiła). She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Antoni Frejek, and her dear brother, Janusz Guzewicz.
She leaves behind her devoted children, Michael Frejek (Turkan) and Julia Frejek, and her dear partner, Bogdan Zając.
Bogusława will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her love, laughter, and the memories she leaves behind will forever be cherished.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 am at De Stefano Funeral Home, followed by burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 355 Taunton Road East, Whitby.
