With great sadness, we the family of Reuben Nash announce his passing on Sunday, October 18, 2026; five weeks shy of his 89th birthday. Reuben was born to parents, father, Henry Herbert Pittman Nash, (1892-1946), and mother Effie Nash- Miles (Fricker) – (1902-1976) in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
When Reuben was eight years old, his father passed away and he was raised by his sister May, who took loving care of him. As a teenager, Reuben worked as a clerk in a grocery store, but wanting more, he moved to Bowmanville to be with his brother Charlie, found work with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Inc., and remained employed for 32 years until his retirement in 1994. Reuben spent his retirement visiting family in St Catharines and throughout Nova Scotia. Reuben also enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, visiting friends daily at the Bowmanville Mall Coffee Time and cheering on his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
Besides Reuben’s parents he has been predeceased by brothers Jimmy, Allie, Herbie, Phillip, Jackie, Clayton, George, Art, Less and Wallace and sisters Lillian, Margaret, Ida, May, Jean, and Delores. Reuben is left to be remembered by his brother Charlie, sisters Eileen and Barbara (Darrow) and many nieces, nephew’s friends and colleagues.
While we mourn the loss of our loved one, let us remember the rejoicing as Reuben is met again by those beyond the veil.
As per Reuben’s request there will be no service however, there will be a celebration of life at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home 53 Division Street on Monday November 9, 2026 from 3 – 5 pm.
