REINERA ANTONIA MARIA “NERA” BLOEMEN

August 27, 1930 – October 31, 2026

nera bloemen

Peacefully, at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, surrounded by her family. Reinera Antonia Maria Bloemen, dearly loved wife of the late Tony Bloemen. Loving mother of Tilly (Chris Durward), Astrid (Ray Cochrane), and John-Peter Bloemen (Naz). Loving Oma of Jeffrey (Karly), Corey (Sarah), Brittney (Matt), Mackenzie, Paige, Jade, Jasmine and Jewel and great Oma to Peyton, Hayden, Sienna, Wren, Hudson, Emersyn and Parker. Nera was one of 8 children. She is survived by 1 sister and 4 in-laws in Holland.

Tony and Nera were married in 1960, and immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Port Perry. Nera was very involved in the community, belonging to many clubs in her 96 years including 30 amazing years with the Hospital Auxiliary helping knit and crochet hats, booties and blankets for the new born babies. She loved going to the Latcham Center where she joined the knitting club and eventually became an instructor there in her later years. Nera was also a fabulous gardener with all her beautiful flowers at their home in Nestleton. People would stop by their home just to admire her accomplishments. She eventually moved to Westshore with Tony and then to the Villa in Port Perry and enjoyed her time there. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Villa, we can’t say enough good things about them and to the great staff at the Oak Ridges Hospice where she spent her final days.
