Evelyn Doreen Dalton

In loving memory of Evelyn Doreen Dalton of Extendicare, Oshawa, who has gone home to rest on January 5, 2025, at the age of 96.

Evelyn was born on July 6, 1928, to Eleanor Violet (Harris) and Charles William Dalton. She was the fifth of ten children (Mildred, Hazeldean, Muriel, Marion, Evelyn, Donovan, Ruth, Ruby, Elladean, and Gayle). Born in Dogs Nest, ON, Evelyn lived in British Columbia and Briarlea, Saskatchewan, before moving with her family to a farm near Seagrave, ON, in 1945.

After moving to Toronto in 1945, Evelyn’s life took a spiritual turn when she began attending Gospel Meetings and embraced a devoted life of ministry. At the age of 25, Evelyn joined her first companion, Lizzie White, to minister in Kincardine, ON. Later, she answered the call to serve in Korea, where she devoted 50 years of her life, spreading her faith and touching countless lives.

Evelyn’s ministry took her to the Philippines, New Zealand, and Great Britain, and she continued her service until 2013, when she entered assisted living. She spent her final years at Extendicare in Oshawa, surrounded by love and care.

Evelyn is survived by her sisters Ruth Forester and Ruby Wagg (Lloyd) and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Mildred, Hazeldean, Muriel, Marion, Elladean, Gayle, and Donovan, and many beloved family members.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 10th, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby, ON. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location, with interment at Groveside Cemetery, 5155 Baldwin St., Whitby, ON. A reception will be held afterward at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home.
