HUMPHRIES, Margarita Vincenza (nee Spiteri)  - In Loving Memory of Maria Margarita Vincenza Humphries neé Spiteri

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Humphries of Whitby on August 27, 2019 in her 83rd year.

Mary passed away peacefully in Ajax Pickering General Hospital comforted by the Last Rites of the Roman Catholic faith in which she was raised. Mary was born in Zejtun, Malta, the youngest of eight children.

She was raised in a convent orphanage until age 14, then came to Canada.

She is survived by a brother, Vince Spiteri of Sydney, Australia.

Mary worked for many years for the Ontario Correctional Services, retiring in 1996.

She is mourned by her partner of 19 years, Bob Greer, and by immediate family, friends, neighbours, former co-workers and many relatives in Canada, Australia and Malta.

Mary was the devoted mother of daughters Lucy Niejadlik (John) and Monica Micallef (Mario), and sons Mark and Lance Humphries. Mary had a gentle, sunny disposition and a smile for everyone. She warmed the hearts of all who met her. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Christopher, Adam, Heather, Alex, Andrew, Leslie, Matthew, Jennifer and by her three great-grandchildren Ethan, Amy and Mason.

Mary was the beloved aunt of the Spiteri, Simiana and DePasquale families, and of the extended Greer family. Mary, you raised your children well. May you rest in peace, cradled by our love in the bosom of the Risen Christ.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd at the Oshawa Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 pm. A Rosary will be said, starting at 6:30 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 4th at St John the Evangelist Church, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby. Cremation will take place with interment at a later date.

Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Covenant House would be appreciated.
