MITCHELL, Charles Walter   - December 4, 1953 - December 24, 2019

Surrounded by family and friends, Charlie peacefully passed away December 24 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay after a year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Charlie is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Sandy (Langlais) and his 2 sons and 4 grandchildren.

Brian and his wife Brandy (Ganert) and their 2 children Colin and Chloe live in Chilliwack, BC, Jamie and his wife Katie (Jones) and their 2 children Evelyn (Evie) and Aiden live in Lindsay.

Charlie worked for GM for over 30 years and when he retired in 2007 he landed his favourite job ever, as the store handyman at Zellers in Lindsay.

He enjoyed a wide range of hobbies from wood working to wine making throughout his life.

He was a loving, outgoing father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family whenever he could.

As per his wishes, Charlie will be cremated and laid to rest at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY in Whitby in the summer of 2020.  There will be no funeral at this time but a Celebration of Life after his burial.

Special thanks go to Dr. Jacquelyn Choi, Dr. Brent MacMillan and the RMH Palliative Care Unit staff in Lindsay.

Also thanks go to Karen, Carolanne and Lisa who were Charlie’s home care nurses.  Your care, concern, compassion and dedication to Charlie will never be forgotten.  We are so grateful for all that you did to help him and his family cope with his illness right to the end.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in his name to either the Durham Region Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa or the Palliative Care Unit at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay would be appreciated by his family.
