Brookes BrendaBROOKES, Brenda - (December 15, 1936 -  August 11, 2021)

It is with sadness that we share that Brenda passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Ajax Pickering Hospital, with family by her side. She was 84 years old.

Loving mother of Karen Welch (Eon) and Michael Brookes (Erika).

Cherished grandma of Amanda Hobin (Eric), Natasha Welch (Ignacio Pano) and Tamara Welch and great grandma to Liam, Evelyn and Wyatt Hobin.

Predeceased by her brother Ed Costigan and survived by her big sister Carol McCallum.

She will be missed and loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Montreal, Brenda was a lifetime fan of the Montreal Canadiens. This was the best year ever as she watched the Habs make it to the Stanley Cup Finals! According to her, there was no other team worthy of her support.

Brenda moved to Ontario more than 40 years ago and made Toronto her home in 1984, however, her heart was always in Montreal.

She moved to Pickering Chartwell four years ago and made some good friends that included her puzzling group that could take on any puzzle no matter how challenging.

Brenda was a force to be reckoned with and was a loving mum and grandma.

Some of the best memories were made years ago with our family at the Costigan cottage in Lancaster (fondly known as "Lanky"). The Costigan, McCallum and Johnson families came together and great parties were had every summer. Mum loved those gatherings that brought her so much joy and laughter and of course stories that we love to repeat to this day.

In respect of Brenda's wishes during this Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no service. When the time is right we will be holding a party to celebrate her life.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to a CHARITY of your choice.

Online condolences may be made at  etouch.ca .

We miss you Mum!
