WIER, Barbara Joan Weir   -  1940 - 2022

Barbara “Joan” Weir was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on February 12, 2022, at the age of 81.

She was born to Peter and Mary Bodak on November 28, 1940.

After graduating high school, Joan chased her dreams, first pursuing a career in nursing and then as a draftsperson at Bell Canada, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Malcolm, with who she shared more than 50 years of love, compassion, and memories.

“Big Mal” sadly passed in 2017, but Joan never missed an opportunity to share a memory, a laugh, or a story every chance she got. They truly were an incomparable couple.

Joan is survived by her sons Ian and Jason, her loving daughters-in-law Katherine and Karen, her sisters Trudy, Donna, Irene, her brother David, and she is preceded in death by her brother Peter.

More than anything, though, Joan leaves behind her grandchildren Hayden, Quentin, and Kyle; truly the loves of her life.

Joan will be missed more than she would ever have known.

Rest in peace, and love, from always to forever.

In lieu of flowers, and if you are able, please donate to Joan’s favorite charity,

The Humane Society of Durham Region (https://www.hsdr.org/).
