STEWART, Layton A. - October 4, 1920 – March 4, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Layton A. Stewart, 101 years old, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre on Friday March 4th.
Predeceased by his beloved wife June (nee Ross) of 65 years.
He will be sadly missed by his children Wendy (Ken) and Kevin (Donna).
Loving and cherished grandfather to Zoe (Steve), Jessie, Anna and Christina.
He will be fondly remembered by family and friends in the Toronto area and his many relatives in PEI and the Maritimes.
Layton was born and raised in French River, PEI.
He moved to Ontario to enlist in WW2 and served for 3 years in England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
After the war, Layton married June and lived in the Beach area of Toronto where he was a longtime member of Bellefair United Church.
Layton will be remembered by the many people who’s lives he touched as a caring and compassionate friend.
He will always be known as the “Mayor of Lockwood”.
A visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME 847 King St. W. (905-721-1234) on Wednesday March 9th, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday March 10th , 2022 at 1:30 pm at St. John Norway Cemetery (256 Kingston Rd, Toronto).
Donations may be made in memory of Layton, to a CHARITY of your choice.
