Johnston JeanJOHNSTON, Jean Phyllis Johnston (nee Lynde)  -  December 30th, 1928 - Saturday, December 10th, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean Johnston announce her passing on December 10, 2022, in her 94th year.

Jeannie has now been reunited with her loving husband Gordon (2020) of 72 years.

Jean was a devoted mother to Bonnie Maunder (Stephen) and predeceased by her son Gordie Johnston (Debbie).

Cherished grandmother of Christine (Jeff), Sandra (Rick), Jennifer (Steve), Justin (Sylvie) and Emily (late Wade).

Treasured great grandmother to Caitlyn (Dan), Kelsey, Brennin, Lyndsey, Claire, Kyle, Isabelle, Evan, Lucas, and Raylan.

Dear sister of Grace Hopkins (late John), Shirley Hamilton (late William) and Carol Monaghan (Brian) and predeceased by Bill (late Vera), Ross, Jim (late Wilma), Betty Moase (late Bryce), Barb Burroughs (late Jim) and Fran Schell (late Jack).

Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Jean was the matriarch of our family. She was always involved with the upkeep of her family home.

She would come out to inspect what was happening whether the grass was being cut, weeds being pulled, branches trimmed or general maintenance.

Visits to her home  included a meal to be eaten with plenty of desserts, candy jar on the table and stories to be shared.  Jean was an avid gardener, bird watcher, camper, knitter, and loved to play solitaire.

Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby on Friday December 16th, from 1:00 pm until time of service in the Barnes Chapel Friday at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception.

In memory of Jean memorial donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated.

Messages of condolence and shared memories can be left for the family by visiting barnesmemorialfuneralhome.com.
