LYON, James Patrick MAY 8, 1934 – JANUARY 13, 2023
Born in Scotland, he emigrated to Canada in 1946, settling in St. Jean, Quebec.
In 1968 the family moved to Scarborough, Ontario and later settled in Oshawa, Ontario.
James is survived by his wife Maureen (or Moe as he liked to call her) and his loving children Doug (Joanne) and Barb (late Bernie).
He is the proud grandfather to Scott (Alicia), Sarah (Stevie), Michelle Daniel), Krista (Aaron) and Matthew (Natalie) and great-grandfather to Abby, Rosalie, Lucas, Clark, Jack and a new great-grandson due any day.
Special Papa Jim to Andrea (Dave) and Judy (Jeff) and their children Claire, VIvian, Sadie and JJ.
Jim is a 59 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly SPEBSQA) and was an extremely proud member of the Scarborough Duke of Harmony, winning numerous medals at International Competition level including two gold medals which were won while having his son sing on stage with him.
He is currently a member of the Durham Men of Harmony.
Jim is a founding member of Harmony Ranch and was looking forward to the 50th anniversary celebrations for the park this summer.
Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice on Thursday January 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Rd. Courtice on Friday January 19th at 1 pm.
