Robinson JohnROBINSON, John Barry Robinson -

MAY 5, 1936 – NOVEMBER 24, 2023

 

Barry passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24th, 2023 at his home in Uxbridge at the age of 87.

 

He is predeceased by his loving wife Ruthie, their daughter Cindy and his parents Herb and Mildred.

 

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Shelley (Edward), Karen (Joe) and Carolyn (Steve).

 

He was a loving Grandpa to Andrew (Amy), Jeremy (Taylor), Ryan (Rachael), Nick, Mike (Julia), Jeff (Megan) and Amy. He was a special Great Grandpa to Elliot, Noah, Maeve, Bowen and Stevie. He will be missed by his extended family and friends. Barry was born and raised in London, Ontario where he met the love of his life - Ruthie.

 

He was a proud inaugural graduate of the University of Western Ontario Engineering Program in 1958.

 

He and Ruthie made Hamilton, Toronto, Springfield VT, Boston MA, and Minneapolis MN their home before returning to Canada in Mississauga.

 

Most recently, he made Uxbridge his home.

 

Barry’s professional life included pioneering computer work at Westinghouse, Ferranti-Packard, Honeywell, and Control Data Corporation before becoming a science consultant with the federal government.

 

Barry was a P.Eng. and member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario Education Committee.

 

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the staff of Douglas Crossing for their care and concern for Barry during his years there. Barry will be remembered as a quick-witted, lively conversationalist who was passionately proud of his family.

 

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice on Saturday, December 2nd, from 1:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the chapel at 2:30 p.m.
