van BOXTEL, Antonius van Boxtel - (Tony) passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024 at the age of 97.
Predeceased by his loving wife Cora. Leaving behind to miss him greatly are his children Connie, Johanna, Maureen (Calvin), Harry (Melanie), Frank (Cindy), and Nancy.
Also missing him are his adoring grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Tara, Kelli, Cameron, Curtis, Nicole, Keira, Samantha, Lenay, Joseph, and Jeffrey. Grampa Tony will also be lovingly remembered by all his great-grandchildren. He was born on January 4, 1927 in Langenbaum, Holland.
In 1951, he and his newly married wife Cora came to Canada and settled in Kingston, Ontario. Eventually, they found their way to Pickering Village in 1958, their first and only home on Christena Crescent. Once there, he secured a position at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, where he took four years of medical schooling to get his Paramedic Licence.
Tony was handy at any job and always wanted to help family, neighbours, and friends with whatever they needed help with. In 1974 Tony built a family cottage in Haliburton and many memories were made and treasured there.
Visitation will be held at the McEachnie Funeral Home in Pickering Village, on Sunday March 3, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Memorial service in the Funeral Home will be held on Monday March 4, 2024 starting at 11:00am, with a gathering to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sick Kids Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
