Baranek LorraineBARANEK, Lorraine - It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lorraine Baranek on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017, in her 68th year.

Daughter of the late John Baranek (2007), and Mary Baranek (2017). Beloved sister of Richard, John, Caroline, Christopher, Francine, Stanley, the late Daniel (1998) and Baby (1956). Adored Ciocia of Adrian, Katrina, Jonah, Daniel and Megan, great Ciocia of Autumn.

Survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by John Krawtchuk.

Lorraine was born in St. Catharines, Ontario and moved to Pickering in 1990 where she was employed at OPG as a Nuclear Operator. Upon her retirement in 2015, Lorraine moved back to St. Catharines.

Lorraine was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church, was a volunteer at the Ozanam soup kitchen in 2016 and most recently a volunteer at Branches or the Word Catholic Book Store, where she also taught classes.  Lorraine was a great cook, could knit or crochet a blanket in a day and had impeccable sewing skills.  Lorraine will always be remembered for her love of family, generosity, and strong and unwavering faith, always following where the truth led her.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I accept from your hands whatever kind of death it may please you to send me today (tonight), with all its pains, penalties, and sorrows in reparation for my sins, for the souls in purgatory, for the conversion of sinners, for all those who will die today (tonight), and for Your greater glory. Amen

You are near even if I don't see you,

You are with me even if you are far away,

You are in our hearts, in our thoughts, in our life always,

Give rest, O Christ, to your servant Lorraine.

Family and friends will be welcomed at the George Darte funeral home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, December 10th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Rosary will be recited at 3pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 11th at Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin St., at 11am. Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery will follow.

Memorial donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Star of the Sea Church would be appreciated by the family.
