ALBERTA, Randolph Erwin Alberta
September 6, 1954 - November 21, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of Randy Alberta announces that he passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in his 71st year, after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Randy was devoted to his family and cherished every moment with his children and grandchildren. To them, “Papa Randy” will always be remembered as a joyful companion–singing, laughing, and sharing playful mischief. His gift for Dad jokes and his desire to brighten others’ days were among his most endearing qualities. He was a meow-tain of fun. Randy was a deeply loved and respected man. To call him a great father, papa, friend, and husband hardly captures the impact he had on those around him.
He had a fondness for Chevy trucks, crib, and horseshoes, and he lived life with an honesty and unfiltered humour that everyone appreciated. He was a steady source of support to anyone who needed it and was always there with a listening ear.
Randy was a fierce advocate for his autistic grandchildren and took immense pride in being part of their journey. A true prankster at heart, he brought laughter wherever he went and was cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Loyal to the core-if Randy called you a friend, you were a friend for life. He carried a deep pride in his hometown and his grassroots, values that shaped who he was. Randy found great joy in the outdoors, from hunting trips with the boys to many years of camping with family and friends in Thessalon. He treasured the annual Alberta Western Weekend reunion in Kenabeek and exploring Florida’s attractions with his grandchildren. He loved to tease that one day he might remain in Florida to live out his days as a pool boy soaking up the sunshine and palm trees.
Randy loved being part of the local pool leagues and the friendships he made along the way. He never missed a chance to play and was always devoted to his team. Randy was a transport truck driver for many years, a career that shaped much of his life. His children have fond memories of riding along side with him, sharing the road and the stories that came with it. He taught and inspired his son to follow in his footsteps and become a driver as well. Randy’s favorite truck was his beloved Orange Blossom Special, which he drove while working for GK Services. Throughout his career, he met many fellow drivers, some of whom became lifelong friends.
Many will recall Randy working alongside his wife with The Animal Assistance Group (TAAG). He was a big part of the day-to-day operations, helping transport animals to and from vet appointments in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. He supported every fundraiser and stood proudly by his wife in everything she did.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rassouli, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Haider and Dr. Moreau from the Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department. Special thank you to the palliative nursing staff at Paramed for their compassion and care ensuring Randy’s final hours were comfortable and pain free.
Randy is now reunited with his parents Sam and Irene Alberta, his siblings Jim, Donald, Diane, Bonnie and little Joe. Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory is his wife and soul-mate Cheryl Alberta, his children Jason Alberta (his favourite daughter-in-law Jennifer), Stacey Alberta (Trevor), Melanie Lovelace (Mike, his favorite son-in-law), Jennifer Burnett (Cory) and his grandchildren Kaeden, Johnny, Cambrian, Kerington, Jaxon, Jayden, Skyla, Kemper, Scott, Shanna and Taylor.
According to Randy’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later time.
