With family by his side, Fred Lohnes passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. He faced his illness with quiet strength and dignity.
Beloved husband of over 54 years to Patricia Lohnes, Fred was a proud and devoted father to Jeff and Ken, and a cherished father-in-law to Julie and Liz. He found great joy in being a grandfather to his five wonderful grandchildren: Peyton, Emily, Machaila, Mackenzie, and Alexcia.
Fred will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his gentle spirit, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
According to, and honoring Fred’s desire for simplicity and wishes there will be no traditional service or speeches. We would, however, love that you share stories of Fred amongst yourselves. A drop in visitation will take place at Oshawa Funeral Home 847 King St. W. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
