It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Arthur, devoted husband, father, brother, and Grampy.

Dave passed away peacefully at Waterloo Regional Health Network – Chicopee Site, Kitchener, on September 27, 2025, at the age of 81.

Dave is lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara, his children Karen (Chris) and Steve (Kristan), his cherished grandchildren Lauren and Blake, his sister Janice (Paige) and niece Laura.

A dedicated educator, Dave spent his career teaching with the Waterloo Region District School Board, at Forest Heights as Music head, then at Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute in Science, where he inspired generations of students with his passion for learning and inquiry.

His love of music was woven throughout his life: he was a proud member of the Wellington Winds, the KW Community Orchestra and the Grand Philharmonic Choir, sharing his talents and joy for performance with his community.

Dave was also a tireless champion of environmental issues, advocating for stewardship of the planet he so deeply honoured. Dave modelled fairness and equity in his dealings with people, and he continued fighting for electoral reform in order to have fair representation and more collaboration in our government.

In his free time, he found joy in traveling with Barb to many continents. He so much enjoyed living in Hawaii while Barb worked there and their annual visits to Hawaii let him reconnect with valued friends and musical groups there. Always listening to CBC music, his last breath was just after hearing his favourite Saturday morning program. He knew the importance of exercise, walked daily with Barb and more recently loved playing pickleball with grandkids.

Above all, Dave was happiest surrounded by family, whether sharing stories, music, or laughter with his loved ones. His warmth, humour, and generosity will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dave’s family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
