In her 103rd year, Della Lillian Biss peacefully departed this world and was welcomed into her eternal home in heaven on June 13, 2025.
Born to George and Evalena Magee on February 6, 1923, Della was the sixth of eight children. She is predeceased by her siblings Freida, Earl, Cora, Alta, Hilda, Lorne, and lovingly remembered by her surviving sister, Elvira Tyner.
Della was the cherished mother of Frank (Catherine), Brenda (Mark), and John (Jennie); proud grandmother to Sam (Amanda), Jordan (Misty), Lauren (Alex), and Liza; and great-grandmother to Alyssa, Micah, Silas, Remy, Chloe, Jaxson, and Bennett.
A farm girl from Omemee, Della’s early life was marked by diligence and service. She worked at GE Peterborough during WWII, trained as a hairdresser in Toronto, and later helped build two successful service stations on the Lindsay Highway, along with developing the Biss subdivision.
A 70+ year member of Gilmour Memorial Baptist Church, she also volunteered with Community Care and Meals on Wheels. Her wit, sharp mind, and dedication to her faith and family shone brightly throughout her long life.
Her final months at Fairhaven LTC were spent spreading joy—chatting in the lobby, attending activities, and zipping around in her power chair with kind words for everyone. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Fairhaven staff and volunteers for their outstanding care.
