November 11, 1932 - June 7, 2026
Passed away on June 7, 2026 at Erie Shores Hospice with family by his side. Beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) (nee Cleeves) for 25 years. Predeceased by his first wife Sylvia Bjorkman (nee Lindhag). Loving father and stepfather to David (Claudette) Bjorkman, Darlene (the late Blair) Williamson, Eric (Bonnie) Bjorkman, Karl (Veronique) Bjorkman, Nels (Susan) Bjorkman, Don (Doris) Krymuza, the late Joan (John) Hlavac, Tammy (Randy) Wolin. Will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers Ariel Yorkman, Daniel Bjorkman, Levi Bjorkman and his sister Miriam Johnston. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends in Canada, USA, Norway and Sweden.
As a teenager Roy’s interest in cars lead him to be a mechanic until he married his first wife, Sylvia and became a pharmaceutical worker at Wyeth and built a home in LaSalle. With all five children in tow, he tried his hand at cash crop farming on 100 acres near McGregor. Then selling the farm he spent 6 years near Harrow before moving to Sapawe, Ontario carving a home out of the northern bush and driving truck. Upon Sylvia’s passing Roy returned to Essex County where he spent his remaining 26 years married to Peggy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. Memories and condolences can be shared online at www.windsorchapel.com
Roy built his life on Jesus Christ. He boldly proclaimed the good news of the gospel to one and all and thoroughly exemplified 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning
