CAREFOOT, William Allan ‘Al’ Carefoot

Al Carefoot passed away at Brightshores Hospital in Owen Sound with his family by his side.

Survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn (nee Fee), his son Barry (Beate), and daughter Jennifer (Brian), and his grandchildren: Brittany (Spencer) Tulloch, Sheldon (Maisie), Sydney, Jeffrey, and Carissa. He will be missed by the loves of his life, great-grandchildren Cora and Casey, as well as his fur friends Moose and Copper.

Al is survived by his siblings Helen (Ed) McNabb, Ken (Jan), Margaret (Cliff) Farrow, and Marion (Willy) Pangle, and by Marilyn’s siblings: Bill (Alice) Fee and Tom (Yvonne) Fee. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Sheldon and Edna (nee Bumstead) Carefoot, brothers Ivan, Art, and Doug, brother-in-law Jim Fee, and sister-in-law Jean Black.

Al enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, camping, and fishing—and especially loved working in his shop. A true handyman, he looked forward to his Wednesday and Saturday evenings in the milkhouse for the ‘men’s club’. Al lived life to the fullest, always ready with a story, a song, and a quick-witted joke. With a cigar in hand, he played the spoons and guitar, passing on the music of his generation.

A Celebration of Al’s Life will take place at 156918 7th Line, Meaford, ON N4L 1W6 on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 1–4 p.m. Please bring lawn chairs and beverages—we will celebrate “just the way Al liked it,” casual and relaxed.
