CARMICHAEL, Jean Carmichael
December 18, 1932 - March 15, 2026It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and GG, Jean Carmichael.
Jean was 93 years old when she passed away on March 15, 2026 at Cassellholme in North Bay, Ontario.
Jean Carmichael, nee Payetta, was born in Port Arthur, Ontario (now known as Thunder Bay) on December 18, 1932 to Lucie and Melvin Payetta.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Harvey on April 4, 2020. She was also predeceased by her mother and father, granddaughter Kathryn Jean, and sisters Hazel Burke and Evelyn Falzetta.
Left to cherish the many wonderful memories of life with Jean, are Jean’s children, Andrew (Brenda); Laura (Stephen); Diane (Brian); Karen (Rod). Her grandchildren, Christina (Alex); Jenna (Brad); Matt (Kaylee); Brianne (Richard); Paul (Leslie); Shannon (Jordan); Nicholas (Kelsey); Cameron (Candace); and Christian. And great-grandchildren, Adeline, Kian, Benjamin, Emmy and Atley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jean worked as a Registered Nurse. She began her career in Terrace Bay, Ontario where she met her future husband and married in Port Arthur on August 10, 1955 and then settled in Schreiber, Ontario where they raised their family for many years.
Harvey’s job with Canadian Pacific Railway took them for sojourns in Cartier, Sudbury and North Bay.
She was a member of the St. Peter’s Parish Catholic Women’s League for twenty-three years.
Jean enjoyed her volunteer activities at St. Peter’s and at the Family Enrichment Program. During retirement Jean and Harvey took much joy in their international travels.
The family of Jean Carmichael would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Cassellholme on Fir for their exceptional and compassionate care they showed Jean.
