Peacefully in her home in the early afternoon of July 30th, 2026, after numerous health challenges. She was surrounded by close friends and her sister.
Carole grew up in Toronto, where she attended École Élémentaire Catholique Du Sacré-Coeur and Humbergrove Secondary School. Carole, who excelled in math and enjoyed sports, went on to study at Weston Business College and Collège O’Sullivan de Montréal.
A proud French-Canadian, Carole never forgot her family’s heritage. She loved to tell stories of her childhood and treasured memories of visits to Hachéville, New Brunswick, where her maternal grandfather, whose name was Haché, had been a postmaster and general store manager.
Carole was always a keen explorer of the wider world and possessed a wonderfully adventurous spirit. She loved to recall the holidays she enjoyed in Italy, France, and Australia. She was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed skiing, biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, motorcycling, and numerous other sports. She was a patron of the arts and was fascinated with music and art of all types.
Carole worked for several companies in the transportation industry, such as warehousing, freight, and billing management in both Montreal and Toronto. She was well matched with and passionate about her career. She retired in 2006.
Carole possessed a feisty, independent spirit and loved to laugh. She faced each challenge and difficulty in life with tenacity and courage that her family and friends will always admire. Carole’s example will be remembered with gratitude and joy by all who knew her. During her retirement Carole managed a Doggie Daycare from her home for several years. She could often be seen striding down Draper Street or in the park nearby walking dogs, including her own beloved “Etta.” Carole was incredibly skilled at training dogs and discerning their needs and was highly respected and loved by her clients – humans included. She was affectionately known as the local “Mayor of Dog Town.”
Carole’s connection with the Draper Street community goes back many years when her good friend, Cate, purchased the house in 1980. Carole developed deep friendships with many of the residents of the street. She finally moved to the street to help her good friend during her final years and continued to live in the community fully immersed as a true resident of historic Draper Street.
Carole is survived by her siblings Ron Chiasson (Carmella), Iréne (Martin, deceased), Roger (Leola), Raymond (Norma), Carmelle (Tony), and Janet (Drue). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece. Carole is predeceased by her parents, Adelard Chiasson and Regina Haché, along with two nieces, Jody and Allison.
Extended family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Carole’s life at the Cecil Street Community Centre, 58 Cecil Street, Toronto, near Spadina Avenue & College Street, on November 14, 2026, between 2 and 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers or donations, family and friends are welcome to contribute to a fund for a plaque in her memory. The plaque will be installed on a bench in the Draper Park, across from her home.
