September 23, 1963 – October 12, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Peter James Andrew Coombes announce his sudden passing due to heart failure on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Peter will be deeply missed by his two beloved sons, Matthew and Nathanial, his parents Jim and Margaret, his sister Jill (Maureen), and his brother Michael.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Stuart and Logan, his very special Aunt Helen and Uncle Homer, along with his extended Coombes and Henderson families. Peter’s warmth, humour, and love for those around him will be forever remembered — including by his loyal cat, Ping, who will miss him dearly.

His Wednesday Night Euchre Group and Thursday Night Poker Peeps will fondly remember his laughter, quick wit, and competitive spirit around the table. Peter had a deep love for the game of golf and will be greatly missed by his friends and fellow golfers as a marshal at the Bowmanville Golf Course, where he was always ready with a friendly smile and a good story.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bowmanville Older Adults Association,

26 Beech Avenue, Bowmanville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to https://feedtheneedindurham.ca/donate

Formalities will begin at 2:00 p.m.

In true Peter fashion, and in honour of his favourite band, AC/DC, we leave you with the opening lines of one of his all-time favourites —

“Living easy, living free

Season ticket on a one-way ride

Asking nothing, leave me be

Taking everything in my stride.”
