AUGUST 31, 1956 – JULY 9, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerry Cowley wishes to announce his sudden passing at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on July 9, 2024.
Loving husband and best friend of Joanne. Son of Marjorie and the late Gerald Cowley. Son-in-law of the late Bert and Joline Bonne.
Brother of the late Barry Rusnell (Betty), Dale Godfrey (Paul), Kim Hankinson (late Rob), Doug Cowley, and Todd Cowley (Lee McLeod).
Brother-in-law to Janet Graham (Richard), Brian Bonne (Tracy), Alan Bonne, and Leslie Bonne. “Uncle Ger” to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews whom he adored.
Gerry’s passion was music and he cherished his time playing trumpet in numerous community bands.
He was a kind and compassionate man who donated countless hours of his time to various organizations. He enjoyed mentoring and as a result built lasting relationships with coworkers, hockey players, and ESL students.
Gerry will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
Please join us to celebrate the life of Gerry on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario. Please bring your fondest memories of Gerry to share with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeridge Health Foundation, Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Backdoor Mission for the Relief of Poverty, or a charity of your choice in Gerry’s honour.
