Tragically, as the result of an accident on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Damien DeBlaere Chesney passed away at the age of 18. Damien leaves behind his one shining star in his life, his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Maddie. Now forever heartbroken and lost are his mom and stepdad Kaylynn and Devin Greaves and his father Jacob Chesney.

He will be forever loved by his stepbrothers Dom Nickerson, Jace Chesney and Parker Phat. Forever adored by his papa Ronnie and Grama Holly DeBlaere, and by his grandma Margie Greaves and grandpa Dennis Elliott. He will also be forever loved and terribly missed by aunt Tammy and uncle Steve Atkinson, aunts Samantha, Savanna, and uncle Kevin Jr. Greaves. Damien will be fondly remembered by many great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his sister Madison (2010), his uncle Bryan (2023), his grandpa Kevin (2023), and by his grandma Margaret (2026). Damien was an avid fisherman; he was so passionate about it. He would spend many hours out at the lake fishing. His other true passion was making music with his best friend Rainn.

The two made incredible music together. He loved his video games and hanging out with friends and family. His laugh and smile were so infectious you would just smile and laugh with him. But the greatest joy in Damiens life was his daughter Maddie. She was his shining star, and he would light up when he spoke about her. Damien, now that you are with your baby sister Madison, we hope that the two of you are busy getting to know each other.

We will find comfort knowing that the two of you are together and will be watching over all of us. We will forever miss your infectious laugh and beautiful bright smile. We love you. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
