DENELZEN , Josh Denelzen

With a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of Jozef (Josh) Bartholomeus Denelzen. After a long and arduous battle with cancer, Josh passed on July 25th at Bethell House Hospice. He now is finally able to be at peace. He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, with whom he shared over 60 years together, in love and kindness. He will be remembered by his Son Peter Denelzen (wife Jessica), and Daughter Nadia Denelzen. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Emmah, Alex, Annika, and Farra. He is survived by his siblings Hans, Hubert, Ida, and Dymphna. He was predeceased by his siblings Chris, Bart, Theo, Will, and Harry. Sadly missed by his furry friend Opie.

Born in Den Haag, Holland in 1950, the youngest of ten children of Chris and Christina. He immigrated to Canada on July 1st, 1981 with his wife and son, and his daughter was born a year later in Canada. For the first few years, he worked with his brother Hubert at his auto body shop. He later opened his own pool business, and also worked at night at the newspaper depot as well as delivering bulk papers. In later years he went on to work for UGDSB as a courier and custodian. He lived a humble and hardworking life, devoted to his family, and had a passion for sailing and camping. He and Jen traveled all over Canada from coast to coast, as well as down south. Over the course of his life, he had several sailboats, and spent many years as a member of the Lake Shore Yacht Club. Sailing trips with his friends Greg and Andy were a highlight to his summers. Camping was also a favorite, with a trip to Killbear Provincial Park a must every year. He will be dearly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations in Josh’s memory to Bethell House Hospice would be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Dods and McNair Funeral Home, 21 First St. Orangeville, on Sunday August 24, 2025 from 2 to 4pm.

A tree will be planted in memory of Josh in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
