In Loving Memory of Dianne Elizabeth Thomas
Dianne Thomas passed away on September 21, 2026 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto due to complications from a fall.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, George Jesenko, and her daughters Stephanie and Christine. Dianne is pre-deceased by her first husband Donald Thomas and her brother Brian Belliss.
Dianne was a long-time member of the Girl Guides of Canada, serving as a Brown Owl, a District Commissioner, and a Ranger Leader and was a member of the Trefoil Guild. Dianne developed her love for travel on three trips to Europe with the 1st St. Andrews Rangers. She was also a volunteer with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada. For her work with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada, Dianne received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Prior to her retirement, Dianne worked in the restaurant industry as a comptroller/bookkeeper for Fran’s Restaurants, Prego della Piazza, and Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill.
Dianne and George spent 31 years travelling, enjoying food and wine, and volunteering for the Ontario Wine Society.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the emergency staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg and St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for their kindness, and to the palliative care team at St. Michael’s Hospital for their compassionate care.
In keeping with Dianne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation in Dianne’s memory to Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders, Girl Guides of Canada, Bruce Trail Conservancy, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada, or a charity of your choice.
