It is with great sadness and heartfelt love that the family of David Earnshaw announces his passing on May 12, 2026, at the age of 90. David will be deeply missed by Dorothy, his wife of 65 years; beloved father of Helen (David), Mark (Mei), and Neil (Linda); adored grandfather of Alison, Arianna, Sarah, Bianca, Catrina, and Julie; and cherished great grandfather of Audrey Rose. He is also survived by his older sister, Judith, who lives in the UK. David was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England on April 5th, 1936.

He, Dorothy and his children immigrated to Canada in 1969, settling in Sarnia, Ontario. He was a lecturer at Lambton College teaching Mathematics and Computers. David was an avid cyclist and was often seen on his bike travelling from work at Lambton College to his home on Lakeshore Drive. David and Dorothy were known for cycling many kilometers around Lambton County in order to enjoy a donut and coffee guilt free. David was a member of the Sarnia Stamp Club for many years and attended stamp club meetings at Grace United Church.

John David Earnshaw was late in developing his running career and loved to take part in the Sarnia-Port Huron Bridge race, taking pride in being one of the oldest runners at races. David was a quiet and kind individual. He was a family man and deeply devoted to his wife. Often on a beautiful sunset evening, you could find David and Dorothy proudly striding around Sarnia arm in arm.

His presence and love will be deeply missed by his family. Cremation has taken place and, according to his wishes, there will be no funeral to follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to The Salvation Army or to the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
