It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonardo Farrauto, who departed this life peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, in his 92nd year, at Idlewyld Manor on June 6th, 2025.

Beloved husband to Antonia (née Scamacca) for 65 years. Devoted father to Salvatore, the late Stefano (1988), and Anthony Farrauto. Predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Marianna Salvatrice Farrauto, and in-laws Stefano and Lucia Scamacca.

Loving brother to the late Calogero, the late Lorenzo (the late Maria), the late Luigi (Angela), Concetta Mattina (the late Rafaelle), the late Giuseppe (Maria), and the late Camillo (Maria). Dear brother-in-law to the late Calogera Allegro (Paolo), Leonarda Zelmo (the late Giachino), and Vincenzo Scamacca (the late Yvonne).

Born in Racalmuto, Sicily, Leonardo moved to Belgium at age 14 to work as a coal miner before immigrating to Canada in 1953. He returned to Belgium in 1960 to marry his beloved Antonia and together they built a life in Hamilton. He was a proud 65-year LIUNA member and a custodian at Annunciation of Our Lord Church for 20 years post-retirement.

Known for his incredible garden, winemaking, love of westerns and soccer, and his quiet, admirable demeanor. A man short in stature but giant in love, wisdom, and kindness. He was the rock of the family, deeply loved and admired.

Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., Hamilton, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 2–5 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Annunciation of Our Lord Church, 280 Limeridge Rd. W., Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Idlewyld Manor or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
