FERGUSON, David Charles “Dave” Ferguson
March 27, 2026Peacefully, at home, on March 27, 2026, in the arms of his wife, Marilyn, and children Jason and Cassie, David Ferguson passed from this world to the great beyond. As one friend states, Dave will be genuinely missed by so many people; a kind, strong, giving, caring light has left our lives; a true gentleman.
David Charles “Dave” Ferguson grew up on the banks of the Thames River in St. Marys, Ontario, with big sister, Joan, and older brother, Don (Nancy). He learned the tricks of fishing at an early age in their back yard. After 6 weeks of dating, Marilyn knew sheβd better like fishing when gifted a fishing pole for her birthday. Over the years, that lifelong passion was passed down to his children, Jason (Priscilla) and Cassie (Brian) and grandchildren Bryson, Corwyn, Payton, Kingston and Chase. At this point weβre certain Dave and former fishing buddy, Bailey, are out on the water once again riding the waves and checking out new and promising fishing holes.
In his work life, Dave was a 50-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, local 793. He operated heavy equipment at various job sites throughout SW Ontario.
Digging was his work life;
Family and Fishing were his passion.
The family wishes to thank the many hands that were involved with Daveβs care over the past 3 year journey. The specialists and nurses at VFCC and STEGH, SW Ontario Health atHome care teams, the many prayer warriors and loyal friends. All of you made this journey bearable.
A Celebration of Daveβs Life will be held at his beloved cottage. A date and time will announced.
If you wish to make a donation in Daveβs memory, please consider the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin.
