It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Fleming, a devoted family man, loyal friend, and longtime owner-operator in the trucking industry. Bob passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and love on Sunday, July 13, 2025, just 3 days shy of his 77th birthday, at WRHN @ Midtown, formerly Grand River Hospital.
Cherished father of Lynn Hart, and Patti and husband Jason Noot. Devoted and loving grandfather of Zachary, and Courtney Hart, Victoria, Jakob, and Kolten Noot. Bob will be missed by his sisters Bev Nuiten, Cathy (Wayne Wilson), Sharon (Stephen Rogers), Chris (Bill Roberts), Marilyn (Doug Avey), by his brother Tom Fleming (Pam), and by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents James Burnett and Jeanette Patricia (Miehm) Fleming, by his friend and mother of his children Margaret (Weitzel) Fleming (2001), by brothers Cameron in infancy, Stephen Fleming, his brother-in-law Kees Nuiten and by his favorite four-legged friend, Clyde.
Bob spent many years behind the wheel of his beloved long-haul truck, a vehicle he took great pride in maintaining, keeping spotless, and running smoothly. He found joy in the rhythm of the road, taking in the scenic views as he worked, and appreciating the freedom of the open highway knowing it always led him back home.
Outside of his work, Bob was a social and generous soul. He cherished the time spent with friends and looked forward to Tuesday morning breakfasts in Wellesley or talking trucks over coffee. He delighted in the chance to bump into people he knew, and even those he didn’t while running errands downtown or at the local car shows, where he enjoyed admiring classic vehicles and swapping stories with fellow enthusiasts, and at various truck shows, where he may have had an opportunity to enter his truck, or to just connect with others. In his younger years, he loved roller skating—gliding across the rink with the same energy he brought to every aspect of life.
But above all, Bob’s greatest love was his family. Whether near or far, they were always at the center of his world. He was proud, supportive, and full of quiet strength, offering his loved ones wisdom, laughter, and an unwavering presence.
Bob’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the friendships he built, and the love he gave so freely.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Bob’s life on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, from 4 – 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be accepted to Wilmot Township Optimist Club, or the charity of one’s choice.
