It is with deep sorrow and much love that family and friends mourn the passing of Sharon Fotheringham on April 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Sharon (“Shel”) was the beloved wife of Carl (“Kelly”) Fotheringham for 56 years. Shel was a devoted wife who cherished quiet time with Kelly. Whether it was spending a day out on the water fishing, going for walks around town, or sitting side by side cheering on her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, they truly enjoyed each other’s company. She was a loving mother to Tracey (Ernie), Troy (Angie), and Terri (Kevin), and a cherished Nana to Josh, Emily (Manzur), Jenna (James), Zac (Alessia), Grace (Mitchell), Ryan (Kristen), Zoe (Christian), and Paige (Branden) and Great Grandma to Caelynn and Matthew. Sharon will be dearly missed by her siblings, Doug (Marg) Weber, Bruce (Deb) Weber, Barb (Joe) Poechman, and Louise (Craig) Brown as well as in-laws Grant (Edie) Fotheringham and Ann Thomas (Brian Harmer), and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Herb and Isabel Weber, parents-in-law Clarence and Beth Fotheringham and brother-in-law Bill Thomas.
Born and raised in Mildmay, Sharon attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated with her Grade 12 and completed Grade 13 at Walkerton District High School. Sharon and Kelly began their family in Kitchener before returning to Mildmay, where they raised their children and built a life rooted in family and community.
Sharon devoted her life to her family, her faith, and to helping others. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League at Sacred Heart Mildmay for many years and valued the friendships and sense of service it brought her. She enjoyed staying active through seniors’ activities in town, coffee with friends, singing with the choir and in quieter moments, she loved to read. Shel also treasured time spent with her sisters at the beach and on shopping trips, creating many happy memories together.
She will forever be remembered for her kindness, compassion, strong faith, sense of humour, love of good food, and her warm, welcoming smile.
