Ellenor Gilbert passed peacefully on July 5, 2025, at Lakeridge Hospital in Oshawa, with her usual grace, following a long illness.
She enjoyed 67 years with her dreamboat husband, Glenn Gilbert, whom she loved and adored with all of her heart. Their devotion was mutual.
Ellenor was the daughter of Douglas and Hester (Caverly) Barton of Bowmanville, Oshawa, and Enniskillen. Predeceased by her siblings Tom, Cliff (Janet) and Colleen Locke (late Ken).
Following a career at General Motors, Ellenor spent her time travelling with Glenn and spending summers at their cottage on Crowe Lake near Marmora.
While she didn’t enjoy cats or snakes, she was a near professional shopper – often returning from St. Armand’s Circle with bags of fashion finds.
Per Ellenor’s request, there will be no funeral and burial has taken place in the family plot at the Bowmanville Cemetery.
She was loved.
