It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Lynne Godfrey, who passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by her family and friends.
Lynne was born on June 20, 1949, in Fredericton, NB. She later attended the University of New Brunswick, where she met the love of her life, Doug, in her second year. From that point on, they built a life together filled with family, friends, and many shared years.
Lynne owned and operated the fashion sportswear store Mountain Magic in Banff, AB, for 39 years, carrying some of the world’s most coveted sportswear brands. A trailblazer in Canada’s sports industry.
Lynne was always active and enjoyed skiing, golfing, running, and biking. Golf became an especially important part of her life, both for the game and the people she met along the way. She was also a talented artist who loved to paint. She generously donated a number of her paintings to the Harvest Golf Club’s annual charity auction held for JoeAnna’s House in Kelowna.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the members of the BC Medical community for the kindness and care they gave Lynne through these difficult times.
Lynne will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Doug Godfrey; her daughter, Southorn (Sean) van der Lee; her brother, Stephen (Carmelle) Swift; and her wider family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 10:30 am, located at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Rd, Kelowna, BC, with Father Wayne presiding.
The graveside ceremony to lay Lynne to rest will be on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery in Banff, AB. (Improvement District No. 9, AB T1L 1B3)
