GOMES, Howard Gomes

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Gomes, who passed away in Haliburton, Ontario, at the age of 73.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Howard was a man of remarkable intelligence and endless curiosity. He had a natural ability to tinker and figure out how things worked, especially when it came to technology. Long before computers became part of everyday life, Howard recognized their potential and pursued studies in computer science, reflecting a forward-thinking spirit that remained with him throughout his life.

Howard was an avid sports fan who proudly cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was never far from his next tee time and loved spending time at the cottage, where he took great pride in building, maintaining, and always improving the place he loved. Always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, Howard was happiest when he was fixing something, tackling a new project, or simply enjoying the outdoors.

Howard is lovingly remembered by his partner, Lois Holmes; his brother, Peter Gomes (Josée); his sisters, Nina and Mary-Lou; and his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Howard will be remembered for his sharp mind, generous spirit, and quiet determination. His memory will live on in the stories shared by those who knew and loved him.

A small gathering will be held to celebrate Howard’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Howard’s memory to the Haliburton Hospital
