Surrounded by the love of his family, John Gulbransen passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 80.
John was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the loving son of the late Everett and Hazel (nee: Anderson) Gulbransen.
John is survived by his wife, Michelle, daughter Leigh of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and brother Roger, nephew Scott (Michelle) and great-nephew Tim, all of Gainesville, Florida.
John was deeply committed to the people he cared for most. He shared a special bond with Leigh, his greatest joy and constant source of pride.
Those who knew John will remember him for his easy smile, sharp humor, quick wit, endless jokes and stories, and competitive spirit. He especially enjoyed his passion for the game of golf at Beach Grove Golf & CC and his love for classic cars. He faced life with boundless optimism and resilience, even in the most trying times.
John will be deeply missed not only by his family and friends here but also by his lifelong friends in Chicago and Pinehurst.

In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A private family committal will take place at a later date.
