Passed away peacefully at Village at Mill Creek in Kelowna on March 14, 2026 at the age of 76.Β She is survived by her husband Gary; son Jim; sister Sandra (Tim) Hartness, West Kelowna; brother Scott (Brenda) Propp, Stoney Plain, AB; brothers-in-law Bob Gustafson, Regina SK, Ken (Eva) Gustafson, Kelowna, sister-in-law Chris (Rob) Draper, Kamloops; aunt Ella Propp, Saskatoon SK, aunt Carol Park, Regina SK, aunt Hazel Baxter, Barrie ON and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Β She was predeceased by her parents Ron and Margaret Propp; sisters Sherry Beaudreau, Marion Propp;Β aunts, uncles and cousins.
Beverly Gustafson was born in Yorkton, SK, where she attended school until graduation.Β She then attended Regina School of Business.Β Her working career included Yorkton School District, Alberta Department of Health and Social Development, Canada Manpower and retail fashion sales.
Bev married Gary in 1971, and Garyβs job took them to, Peace River AB, Terrace BC, Kamloops BC, Cranbrook BC and finally Kelowna BC.Β When Jim was born in 1974, she became a stay-at-home Mom.Β When Jim was in Grade 4, she started part time work in ladyβs fashion.
She was very active in the Lutheran Church wherever she lived, teaching Sunday School, singing in the Choir, and active in the various Church Ladies Groups.Β It was her calling to welcome strangers and visitors to worship.Β She loved her family near and far, singing Happy Birthday over the phone to all she was able to call.
After Garyβs retirement, travel became a passion, visiting every province except Newfoundland and every state except New Mexico and Iowa.Β Hawaii was her favourite place, visiting Maui and Kauai more than a dozen times.
In 2022, she was diagnosed with Alzheimerβs Disease.Β In April 2025, she had to become a resident of Village at Mill Creek Care Home until her passing.Β While there, she received first class care and love from all of the staff.Β Gary and Jim are very thankful for how well she was loved and cared for by the staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to theΒ Alzheimerβs SocietyΒ orΒ Christ Lutheran Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 1:00PM.Β The Interment at Kelowna City Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:00AM. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view in 3-5 days.
