HARDIE, Elizabeth Hardie
August 25, 1939 - December 26, 2025
She passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025.
Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother whose greatest joy came from bringing family together. She was known for her warmth, her generous spirit, and her love of hosting family gatherings filled with conversation, laughter, and connection.
Born in Scotland, Betty and David made the courageous decision in the 1960s to leave behind family and friends to build a new life in Canada. In her adopted home, she carved out her own close-knit community of family and friends and created a life defined by love, dedication, and resilience.
Betty spent many years as a valued employee of the Clorox (Glad) Company before retiring. Her strong work ethic and commitment to those around her were evident in all she did.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Hardie, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage; her children Andrew Hardie (Joventina Alcayaga) and Linda Watson (Harvey Watson); her five grandchildren Sarah Watson, Thomas Watson, Oz Watson, Marybeth “Myles” Hardie, and Mark Hardie; and her sister Roseleen Crosbie.
A private family ceremony was held on December 27, 2025. A Celebration of Life in Betty’s honour is being planned for March.
The family would like to extend their very heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Headwaters Health Care Centre for the wonderful and compassionate care that Betty received.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A tree will be planted in memory of Elizabeth in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
