It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Melvin Haynes who left us on July 2, 2026 at the age of 92. Ron passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville with loved ones by his side.

Born on March 1, 1934, in Castleton Northumberland County, Ontario, to Lorne and Daisy Haynes.

Ron worked at Goodyear as a Lab Technician for 35 years. While working Ron went to night school to study small engine repair. His love for tinkering and fixing things led him to repairing lawn mowers. There was never a lawn mower that he could not fix. He retired at 53 and was retired for 39 wonderful years enjoying life, family, and the things he loved most.

He was very proud of the legacy he created and dedicated his life to his family. He loved to attend sports events to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was very proud of each of their accomplishments.

Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Peggy for 73 years, and a wonderful father to his four daughters, Debbie Luxton (Donnie), Donna Jackman (Paul), Julie Van Seggelen (Nick), Joanne German. His love for his 12 grandchildren and his 16 great grandchildren was truly unmatched. He loved each and everyone of them and was very proud of the legacy he had created. Grandchildren: Lori, Ronnie (Shannon), Doug (Lucy), Jason (Christine), Ryan (Chandra), Mike, Perry (Jaime), Hailey (Sarah), Jen (Tyler), Riley (Amy) and Curtis. Great Grandchildren: Noah, Isabella, Danika, Jacob, Charlotte, Marella, Mateus, Logan, Ethan, Kyla, Jaylyn, Declan, Emma, Calvin, Emery and Jaxson. He is predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Hollie Van Seggelen, his treasured sister, Jean Sellers, and his sister-in-laws Doris Joll and Bernice Hately. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Rita Samis and his nieces and nephews, who were dearly loved.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Newcastle Funeral Home, 386 Mill Street South, Newcastle, Ontario. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 127 Liberty Street South, Bowmanville, Ontario. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family will be speaking at the luncheon following the funeral in St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
